The Lakeville Select Board voted Dec. 16 to appoint Paula Burdick as treasurer-collector, approving a starting salary of $85,000, three weeks' vacation and a six-month probationary period. The appointment was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.

Andrew and the interview panel recommended Burdick based on her years in assistant roles and institutional knowledge. Burdick told the board she holds assessing certifications, has completed college coursework, and plans to take additional finance classes. "This is my town," she said, adding that she hopes to retire from the position.

Board members welcomed the hire and asked about Burdick's education and background; she said she has assessing certifications and is working toward a bachelor's degree in finance. The motion to appoint Burdick passed on a roll-call vote.

The board thanked Burdick for her years of service and confirmed the hiring terms, with staff to complete onboarding.
