The Lakeville Library Board of Trustees approved the Nov. 24, 2025 minutes, adopted a budget for the coming cycle and reaffirmed acceptance of a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York during its Dec. 17 meeting at the Lakeville Public Library.
Library Director Jennifer Jones told trustees that vendor delays at Ingram have left ordered books pending and that purchase lines appear underspent because ‘‘they're running, like, 4 weeks behind,’’ adding the library will reconcile accounts when the town's incoming treasurer/collector is settled in January. Jones also said the Carnegie Corporation paperwork (W-9) was submitted and the library "can expect to receive a check in January 2026." The board voted to reaffirm its earlier acceptance of the Carnegie gift.
The board reviewed a level-service draft budget prepared by the director that holds most operating and wage lines steady because of anticipated municipal constraints. Jones recommended modest conservative uplifts to the heating-fuel and other contracted-services lines to address recent cost pressures. Trustees pressed her on utility risk tied to a town well project and on salary-step increases, which remain pending until HR releases town-wide salary guidance. One trustee moved to accept the budget "as amended," a second followed and the motion passed with aye votes recorded.
The motions and votes recorded at the meeting included approval of the Nov. 24, 2025 minutes, formal adoption of the presented budget (with the director's conservative adjustments), and reaffirmation of the library's acceptance of the Carnegie Corporation gift. A motion to adjourn was passed at 9:27 a.m.
Next procedural steps: the director will finalize account reconciliations with the new treasurer/collector when that official assumes duties in January, follow up on outstanding vendor quotes for circulation computers, and confirm receipt and any publicity plans once the Carnegie gift check arrives.
