Taos County awards $1.02 million contract to replace Rio Chiquito bridge

Taos County commissioners voted on Nov. 18 to award contract TCC2025-59 for the Rio Chiquito bridge replacement (Bridge No. 7760) to GMM Emulsions, with a contract total of $1,024,307.38 (inclusive of tax).
Deborah Chavez, presenting the procurement recommendation, described the scope as removal and replacement of the existing bridge, including all labor, materials, equipment and traffic control. Commissioners expressed no substantive amendments during the motion and approved the contract by roll call.
Why it matters: The project is a major capital investment for county transportation infrastructure. Staff said the replacement will improve access and safety on the Rio Chiquito road network and will be coordinated with public-works scheduling.
The county authorized the contract and instructed staff to proceed with implementation and coordination with the contractor to begin work as soon as scheduling and mobilization are complete.
