At the Dec. 18 meeting the Contoocook Valley School District board approved an administrative justification to add a full-time special-education teacher to serve Hancock Elementary (separating a previously shared position) after administrators said caseloads made the prior shared model unsustainable for IEP compliance.
The board approved several policy updates recommended by the policy committee, including a nondiscrimination/Title IX-related procedure (ACR2), a combined student conduct/discipline policy (JICD) that rescinded several older overlapping policies, and a JCA change-of-class/school-assignment policy to reflect legislative requirements. The board voted to rescind redundant policies (JIA, JCE, JCB, JEC) as the consolidated policies were adopted.
Separately, the board approved an amended CTE regional agreement that clarifies statutory language and fixes a confusing sentence construction (a comma and illustrative example were added to the board’s version). The chair was authorized to sign the amended agreement so the district meets the Jan. 1 requirement for CTE access changes.
The actions were recorded as motions and carried by voice vote. Administrators noted that funding for the newly justified special-education teacher will be covered by existing salary-line savings and that further steps will follow in HR and special-education hiring.
