East Ridge council approves routine measures: grants, servers, uniforms and board appointments

During its Dec. 11 meeting the East Ridge City Council approved a series of routine resolutions and appointments.

Key votes at a glance: the council approved returning $14,000 in unexpended School Resource Officer grant funds to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (Resolution 37-69); accepted a $1,000 Step 1 teacher-garden grant from the Hamilton County Health Department for the library (Resolution 37-70); approved purchase of three replacement IT servers and associated licensing for $55,688 (Resolution 37-71); and awarded the 2026 seasonal recreation uniform bid to Crown Sports after Parks & Rec recommended the vendor based on past performance (Resolution 37-72).

The council also approved a number of appointments by recorded vote: reappointment of Carnell Story to the beer board and the appointment of Robert Maynor/Maynard as beer-board chair (Resolutions 37-73 and 37-74), reappointment of Linda Henson, and new appointments of Katie Perkins and Marilyn Lowry to the East Ridge Library Board (Resolutions 37-75, 37-76, 37-77). All were approved by roll call vote recorded as Yes by Vice Mayor Tyler, Council member Cagle, Council member Ezell, Council member Witt and Mayor Williams.

The council also noted an upcoming January public hearing and first reading for Ordinance 12-39 (rezoning 1408 Sanhazi Drive from C-2 to R-2 for a two-unit duplex), which will include public comment on parking and short-term rental allowances.

No dissenting votes were recorded on these routine items at the Dec. 11 meeting.
