Forest Park DDA highlights 62 new businesses, blight plan, workforce tools and local projects

Staff outlined an interdepartmental approach to commercial corridor blight and revitalization that involves planning, code enforcement, public works, police and fire. Projects cited included new signage and exterior work on properties the city or related authorities own, with the presentation noting the intent to show visible improvements on Main Street and other corridors.
On workforce development, staff said the Clayton County Chamber has convened a county workforce collective and that Georgia Power and others are working with the city on tools (including a data product called Lightcast) to inform workforce strategy. The presentation also noted a private tenant, a vertical farming business called "80 Acres," is planning to occupy the Gillum 400 building. Staff said D&O insurance will be renewed to carry through 2026 and no board action was required at the meeting.
