Stevens Lake update: consultants to return in January; URA begins environmental insurance renewal planning

The URA received an update on Stevens Lake dam testing and related site work, and staff told the board the engineering consultant OASIS has completed initial testing but has not yet delivered a full report.
"They won't have the current full report back on the dam as of right now, but they should have it with hopefully, by the end of the month," Miss Dennis said, explaining that OASIS will be invited back to present a full update at the URA's January meeting. She added that additional soil testing will be performed next week on the city-owned parcel at the old Gillum fire station and that results will be presented when complete.
Miss Dennis also told the board the URA carries a five-year environmental insurance policy that expires in June 2026. She said the current policy's cumulative premium is approximately $305,000 for the five-year term (about $60,000 per year) and that staff has started the vetting process for renewal with the broker and will circulate the 75-page current policy to the board.
Board members asked questions about the scope of coverage and what the new policy should include; Miss Dennis said staff will do a line-by-line comparison with potential renewal quotes and bring recommendations back to the URA. No formal action was taken; consultants and staff are expected to return with test results and renewal options at upcoming meetings.
