Florence swears in several police promotions as Lt. Jason Reed prepares to retire

At a special Florence City Council meeting, Chief Jeff Mallory and the mayor administered the oath of office to a slate of promoted police officers as the department prepares for upcoming retirements.
Chief Mallory announced that Lieutenant Jason Reed will retire after 23 years of service and introduced the promotions: Sergeant Tim Crowley to lieutenant; Corporal Ben Koltmeyer and Corporal Zach Eagle to sergeant; Officer Jacob Whitford and Officer Tyler Jackson to corporal. "Please join me in thanking Lieutenant Reed for his years of service," Mallory said.
City and department leaders recognized the officers' years of service, training and roles such as field training officer, firearms instructor and SWAT team membership. Families attended and were acknowledged during the ceremony.
The swearing-in was recorded in the council meeting minutes and presented without a separate council vote during the special meeting.
What happens next: the promoted officers will assume their new ranks and assignments according to department personnel processes.
