The Gatlinburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the city's fiscal 2025-26 budget and adopted a property tax-levy ordinance in a voice vote during its Aug. 5 meeting. The budget ordinance (Ordinance No. 2640) covers the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026.
Commissioners moved and seconded the ordinance for its third and final reading. With no discussion, the presiding officer called for a voice vote and the motion passed ("Aye"). On the property tax levy, the board presented Ordinance No. 2642; commissioners stated there would be "no increase in property tax," then moved, seconded and approved the levy by voice vote.
The city manager's office had earlier thanked department directors and staff for work on the budget following a June 5 workshop and a July 17 presentation. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript; outcomes were recorded as voice votes.
The adoption takes effect for the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2025. The commission did not provide line-item detail or a full roll-call in the transcript; staff indicated department-level preparation and prior workshop meetings had informed the final ordinance.
