The Arlington City Council approved updates to municipal code Title 14 to clarify airport operations, tenant responsibilities and enforcement procedures.
Monroe, the airport presenter, said the ordinance updates include processes for removal of non-airworthy aircraft from airport property, hangar inspections, and tenant expectations upon moving out. He framed the changes as periodic housekeeping to ensure the airport functions safely and efficiently.
Several councilmembers noted a redline version of the ordinance appeared missing from some packets; staff confirmed a redline existed and members verified they had a copy before proceeding. After brief discussion and confirmation, a councilmember moved to approve the ordinance and authorize the mayor to sign it; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The ordinance is intended to provide clearer expectations for tenants and airport staff during inspections and aircraft removal actions; Monroe said the updates are intended to support safe airport operations.
