The House Consumer Protection, Technology & Utilities Committee completed several procedural actions and votes during its meeting.
Committee staff summarized House Bill 1191 (printer 1340) as establishing railroad safety requirements, including oversight of wayside detector systems, reporting for out-of-compliance railroad companies, minimum staffing requirements, hazardous-materials transportation reporting, and restrictions on unsafe train lengths. The committee moved the bill and, with no questions on the record, approved it on a roll call vote of 23–3.
The committee also considered House Resolution 372 (printer 2661), which designates Dec. 2 as World Nuclear Energy Day in Pennsylvania. Mister Scott read the resolution summary; there were no negative votes and the resolution passed unanimously.
Finally, the committee moved to re-refer Senate Bill 871 (printer 971) to the local government committee. The motion was seconded and carried, sending the Senate bill to the local government committee for further consideration.
With those actions completed the chair closed committee business and adjourned the meeting.
