Phoenix reopens Eastlake Pool with heated facility, ADA upgrades and community programming

Phoenix officials and community leaders on Dec. 3 celebrated the re-grand opening of Eastlake Pool, describing the facility as a culturally significant community asset that now includes a heated pool, ADA improvements, expanded hours and programs.
Mayor Kate Gallego said the facility "is a pool that is befitting of the incredible history in this community," and noted the site includes the city’s civil-rights memorial. Councilwoman Keisha Hodge Washington called the reopening a symbol of equity and praised parks staff for overcoming scheduling and construction challenges.
Parks and Recreation Director Cynthia Aguilar said the department is registering swim lessons for the new pool and expects to expand lifeguard training and youth programming. Aguilar also highlighted that several staff and community members are directly connected to the pool historically, naming Ashley as the local pool manager who grew up using the facility.
Community leader Jackie Berry and neighborhood volunteers recounted long-term stewardship of Eastlake Park and invited residents to future events such as a jazz festival. Organizers emphasized the pool’s role in neighborhood revitalization alongside other recent city investments.
