Coventry — The School Committee voted 7–0 on Dec. 11 to reintroduce a director of curriculum position and to approve an updated organizational chart that incorporates that role.
Superintendent explained the director position had been vacant for several years and that assistant-superintendent duties had expanded to cover curriculum work. "We have been using math coaches and reading and ELA... but now we're at a point where we think a curriculum director is needed," the superintendent said, noting that Amy helped prepare the job description.
Committee members asked for and received a brief explanation of how the position would fit into the administrative model; the superintendent said the organizational chart reflects the role and that adding a dedicated director would help advance accountability and instructional goals. The committee approved the job description and the chart in separate motions, each passing unanimously.
