Finance commissioner outlines parks, golf, airport and capital projects

Finance & Revenue Commissioner Rich Bragg provided a departmental update on activities under his liaison duties, spanning finance, parks and recreation, lake and riverfront amenities, municipal golf courses and the airport.
On parks and recreation, Bragg said crews corrected an underground leak at Splash Central, repainted play surfaces and resurfaced a major slide. He described planned demolition and rebuild of Memorial Ballpark, including a player development center, concessions, storm shelter and team facility. Bragg summarized public meetings on Gibbs Park and the Stoney Run nature area, noting SDSU architecture students provided conceptual designs and neighbors had opportunities for feedback.
Bragg also highlighted a new rock "fishing node" at Crown Park completed with Game Fish and Parks funding and said the city is responsible for ongoing maintenance. At the golf courses, he said revenue and rounds were up, noted plans to replace a failing bridge over Hole No. 10 and listed other maintenance and path improvements. On the airport, Bragg said staff are updating long-term leases and performing maintenance on leased buildings to keep the asset operational despite the lack of daily air service.
"We're blessed to have such talented people," Bragg said of city staff and noted the city's work to modernize leases and keep assets in service. He invited further public meetings on parks design and said more updates would be provided as projects progress.
