District announces public review of CTE curriculum samples as part of adoption process
Summary
Director of curriculum said the district is evaluating CTE curriculum samples across many subjects and invited parents and community members to review materials available at the middle and high schools.
Huron School District 02-2's director of curriculum told the school board the district is conducting a review of career and technical education (CTE) curriculum samples across multiple subjects and made the materials available for public inspection.
Mrs. Peetz said samples were collected over the summer for areas including auto technology, accounting, computer applications, welding, networking, AV technology, human development, foods, fashion design, residential construction, agriculture, plant and animal sciences, and others. Teams are using an evaluation matrix focused on alignment to state standards, instructional supports and assessment to identify priority standards and needed changes.
She said the sample materials and review matrix are available at the middle and high school buildings for community members to inspect and that community volunteers were requested for committee involvement; any parent or community member may request to participate in the evaluation process.
The board did not take an adoption vote at this meeting; Mrs. Peetz said the review and development of proficiency scales and scope-and-sequence revisions will continue and be returned to the board in subsequent meetings.
