Rockville School Board unanimously approves course catalog, teacher break policy and live‑streaming rule

The board voted 7‑0 to adopt the 2026‑27 course catalog after a brief acknowledgement from Alicia Johnson, executive director for secondary education. Mr. Burns moved to approve the catalog and Miss Daniel seconded the motion.
On policy GCLE, which addresses teacher unencumbered time, district staff clarified eligibility for special‑education teachers. "All of our special education teachers, K through 12, if they participate in more than 20% of their time in a self contained setting, they do receive the 30 minutes unencumbered time," said Ms. Delvecchio, the staff member who answered board questions. The board approved GCLE on second read, 7‑0 (motion moved by Ms. Harris and seconded by Miss Hutchinson).
The board also approved policy BEA, which governs live streaming of board meetings. The transcript notes the policy was requested by the Department of Education. Mr. Nelson seconded the motion to adopt BEA and the vote was 7‑0.
No further discussion or amendments were recorded on the three items. The approvals complete the second‑read stage for each policy; the district will implement them according to its standard timelines and administrative procedures.
