The Englewood City Water and Sewer Board approved contract renewals for water-resources services aimed at protecting the city’s senior water rights.
Stephanie Ellis of the engineering department told the board the renewals cover legal and engineering work on water rights, water supply planning and water-court matters. She said "For Burke Hill, we're recommending a contract renewal in the amount of $600,000 And for Martin and Wood, we're recommending a renewal in the amount of $406,000." Ellis said the dollar amounts are lower than 2025 because fewer trials are anticipated and that the contracts are included in the city’s 2026 budget.
Chair Moore called for a motion and the board approved the renewals by voice vote. Staff emphasized the firms' ongoing role in defending and optimizing Englewood’s senior water-rights portfolio, which Ellis described as dating to the 1800s.
