"We want some planted green space, maybe a little nature walk to the side, but this is a high-used park — don't lose the community meeting-space aspect," one commissioner said. Staff offered to solicit volunteer experts and models from other communities and return with options in January. Commissioners suggested early community engagement, clear messaging about constraints related to the floodplain and a desire to confine any new features to the park’s existing footprint so as not to encroach on areas residents currently use.
