Parent urges more adult supervision after fight near Erie High; board hears request
Erie School District Board of Directors (Committee of the Whole / Regular Session) · December 11, 2025
Summary
A parent described intervening in a violent altercation near Erie High and urged the district to station adult supervisors ('blue coats') in the back area to discourage loitering and improve student safety; staff noted the location described was off school property.
At the public‑comment portion of the Dec. 10 board meeting, parent Danielle Randall told the board she witnessed a violent fight the Monday before Thanksgiving near Erie High and urged the district to place adult supervisors in the back of the high school to prevent similar incidents.
"There were 2 boys that were fighting. 1 was on the ground getting kicked and punched, and I was the only 1 that actually was able to step in and intervene," Randall said, explaining she was dropping off her son when she saw the altercation. She added that the location she described was off school property and that groups of students often congregate there.
Randall asked the board to consider posting 'blue coats'—adult supervisors—at the rear of the building to help corral students and protect their safety. The board acknowledged the concern; staff noted the incident happened off district property and that parking/drop‑off patterns influence where students gather.
No immediate board action was taken during the meeting; the comment was placed on record for follow‑up by staff as appropriate.
