Trustee Norwood told a Dolton village meeting that tax-appeal forms are available and will be handed out at the gathering so residents do not have to go to the township assessor’s office. "I do have them in the building... and I will pass them out shortly," she said.
Norwood thanked the mayor for what she described as frugal stewardship of village funds amid ongoing budget concerns and praised Trustee Belcher, the head of finances, for transparency. She said residents may ask Belcher to review the village finances with them so they understand budget decisions.
On public safety and staffing, Norwood said the village has appointed new leaders across departments, adding, "We have a new police chief. We have a new, public works." She framed those personnel changes as important work happening behind the scenes to keep the village functioning.
As chair of the youth committee, Norwood described recent events held at Thornridge High School and said the village is expanding its housing efforts. "We will have another component," she said, previewing a secondary part of the Doane United housing program that officials plan to introduce next month and saying the program will include different options so "what may not work for some may work for others."
Norwood closed by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve and for the village team’s collaboration. The meeting exchange ended with another speaker thanking her: "Thank you, trustee Norwood." The village did not record any formal motions or votes during the remarks.
Next steps: attendees were told to expect distribution of tax-appeal forms at the meeting and that further details about the Doane United housing program’s additional component will be released at the next monthly meeting.
