Erie School Board approves city partnership, arts agreement and routine reports; several votes recorded

The board approved a resolution authorizing the superintendent to formalize a partnership with the City of Erie to support historic‑preservation collaboration and curricular connections and separately approved an agreement with Erie Arts And Culture to develop a district flag and anthem, both by roll call. Doctor Matt Brennaman and other board members described the partnership as a way to enrich curriculum and connect students to community history.
The board also approved the secretary’s report and the superintendent’s report. The superintendent’s report, delivered by Doctor Gibbs, outlined strategic‑planning work and a data‑system rollout (Panorama Education) planned to begin Dec. 15 and continue into February 2026.
A resolution to recognize Dec. 2 as Harry T. Burley Day in Erie Public Schools was moved, seconded and adopted by roll call. The board adopted supplemental new business and other routine motions as presented.
On financial matters, the board separately approved bills and payroll. Item 10.01 was approved by roll call with Mister Horton recorded as abstaining because of a payment from the district to UE CDC; item 10.02 passed on roll call with attending members voting yes.
