Board updates mandated-reporting policies for child and vulnerable-adult maltreatment

Superintendent Massey said the purpose of policy 4.14a (previously 5.22) is "to make clear the statutory requirements of school personnel to report suspected child neglect or physical or sexual abuse." The board approved the recommended language updates and statutory reference changes.
For policy 4.14b (previously 4.14), staff noted the only recommended change was a number adjustment; the policy reiterates statutory reporting requirements for suspected maltreatment of vulnerable adults. Board members moved, seconded and approved both policies by voice vote.
The changes were described as formulaic and largely terminological; administration recommended the updates to align district policy with current statutory language and numbering. The policies will take effect per standard district policy adoption timelines.
