During its Dec. 16 meeting the Taft City Council approved consent calendar items 10 through 17 by a single roll-call vote.
Items included: approval of minutes for the Dec. 2, 2025 regular meeting; payment of bills totaling approximately $474,000; execution and filing of Transit Development Act Article 8 claims and street and roads development Article 8 claims for fiscal year 2024'25; adoption of the Recognized Obligation Payment Schedule (ROPS 26-27) covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 and direction to present the ROPS to the countywide oversight board on Jan. 22, 2026; an automatic hourly-wage increase for city positions affected by the state minimum wage increase (extra-help pay rate adjustment); Amendment No. 3 with Securus Technologies LLC adding required services and extending the contract 60 months and appropriating $64,547.94 as a refund for voided transactions; and a resolution authorizing workers' compensation coverage for correctional peace officers injured while transporting inmates out of state.
The clerk recorded a 3-0 vote in favor of the consent calendar. No items were pulled for separate discussion.
What's next: staff will present the ROPS 26-27 to the countywide oversight board on Jan. 22, 2026, and the Jan. 20, 2026 hearing will proceed on the zoning ordinance introduced earlier in the meeting.
