The Superior Common Council approved a series of routine and capital items during its August 17 meeting following the broadband master plan vote.
Appointment: The council approved the mayor's recommendation to appoint Nick Baker to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Superior; the motion was moved by Councilor Fennessy and seconded by Councilor Bender.
Contracts and studies: The council approved miscellaneous licenses, and authorized an agreement with Conventions, Sports and Leisure International to conduct a feasibility study for the Superior Convention Center.
Capital project award: The council awarded the Heritage Park fence project to Dairyland Fence for an amount not to exceed $44,650.
Federal and state project items: The council approved the transfer of Federal Aviation Administration entitlements to the Waukesha County Airport. It also approved a state municipal agreement to reallocate STP urban funding, moving approximately $228,000 from the Barker's Island Causeway project to the Hammond Avenue reconstruction project.
Traffic ordinance: The council adopted an ordinance amending the traffic code by adding a stop at North 16th Street and Baxter Avenue.
Votes and procedure: Several of the items passed on voice vote during the consent agenda; the broadband adoption was the only item recorded by roll-call vote (8-2). Councilors asked questions about funding sources and confirmed that some project changes amend the capital improvement plan rather than the general fund.
No further formal actions were recorded beyond these approvals and the meeting was adjourned after items of privilege and recognition.
