Harlingen swears in mayor and two commissioners, honors outgoing mayor pro tem; Daniel Nemencio Lopez chosen as mayor pro tem

Kinsley Jr. for his service and presented a custom engraved gavel; Representative Janie Lopez presented a United States flag flown over the Texas Capitol and praised Kinsley's work on local infrastructure and constituent service.
Delmar read a plaque on behalf of the commission honoring Kinsley's leadership and years of service. Senator Hinojosa summarized Kinsley's record, including military service and local nonprofit and veterans board roles, and presented a certificate of excellence on behalf of the state.
The commission next swore in Delia Cavazos Gamez as city commissioner for District 1; a certificate of excellence from the state was presented in recognition of her election and swearing-in. Daniel Nemencio Lopez was sworn in as District 2 commissioner; in his remarks he thanked staff, family and the community and pledged to work with other commissioners.
Pursuant to the Harlingen City Charter (Article 4, Section 6) commissioners proceeded to elect a mayor pro tem. A commissioner nominated Daniel Nemencio Lopez; the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote. The presiding officer announced that the motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Sepulveda offered brief remarks thanking supporters and family. The meeting concluded with a short adjournment and an invitation for photographs and refreshments.
