Hamilton County Council approves slate of board appointments and committee liaisons

Hamilton County Council approved a slate of appointments to county boards and commissions and adopted council liaison and committee assignments at its Dec. 3 meeting.

The council voted to confirm nominees including Michael Colby to the Alcohol and Beverage Board; Carlton Mills to the Board of Zoning Appeals; Rachel Quaid to an economic development board seat; and multiple county redevelopment and visitor-convention commission appointees. Council members also approved liaison and committee assignments, naming Brad Beaver to serve on solid waste and aviation liaison roles and Steve Nation as council parliamentarian.

The approval came after a councilor moved to confirm the list, a second was recorded and the motion passed by voice vote. Councilors noted there were no applicants for one economic development board seat in Arcadia; they said the portal will remain open and the vacancy will be promoted on social media to solicit applicants.

The action does not create any new county programs; it fills seats on existing boards and identifies which council members will represent the council on standing committees and advisory bodies. The council took the appointments and liaison assignments by a voiced 'Aye' and did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript.

The council adjourned that portion of its agenda after confirming appointments and moving to other business.
