Council renames Fortaleza Park as Trotter Memorial Park in unanimous resolution

El Paso City Council unanimously approved a resolution to rename Fortaleza Park, located at 14800 Tierra Fortaleza Avenue, as Trotter Memorial Park in loving memory of Sebastian Roman Trotter and Charlie Charlotte Emery Trotter and their dogs Zeus and Ally.
Council members recounted the family’s connection to the park and offered condolences. In support of the resolution a council member said the community is behind the family and offered a prayer: "...we lift you up in prayer because, with no parent should have to go through what you guys went through," one member said. The resolution noted the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board had recommended renaming the park following public input.
The motion and second were called and the council voted unanimously to adopt the resolution. Staff noted an image of the children playing at the park was provided in the packet.
The renaming is an honorary act; staff will update signage and records and coordinate community notification.
