THE NORTH AURORA Village Board on Dec. 15 approved on the consent agenda a housekeeping change that consolidates the terms "banquet halls" and "special event places" under a single definition, meaning venues that meet that definition will require a special-use permit.
A trustee presenting the item said the change was driven by similarity between the definitions: "So now banquet halls are special event places and special event places are special event places. So everybody's a special event place because the definition was so similar." The board voted by roll call and the listed trustees recorded "Yes."
