Carol Davis, who said she owns property on Hill Road and lives adjacent to the proposed site, warned the landfill would bring “heavy truck traffic, engine noise, diesel exhaust, and dust,” and that 300‑foot buffers would not protect nearby homeowners. "Who wants to live next to a landfill? Who wants to buy a home next to a landfill?" Davis asked, urging the board to oppose the proposal when it appears before the county in 2026.
Commissioners also handled a planning‑board vacancy. Planning staff reported that the planning board had unanimously recommended Henry Vines to fill the seat, but the board received a motion to appoint Lee Kimrey and voted to confirm that appointment at the meeting. Staff noted the planning board’s recommendation is not binding and that the unified development ordinance limits planning‑board representation by township.
