During the public‑communication section of the Dec. 15 meeting, resident Marion Kong urged the Planning Commission to assist the Community Development Department in revising outdated sections of Millbrae's planning code. Kong told commissioners the city is "moving forward economically" but said old code provisions limit allowed uses in parts of downtown (including along El Camino Real and the Broadway/Bridal area), preventing some buildings from being occupied and reducing vibrancy.
Kong praised city staff for helping a recent project (referred to in the record as the "Musi project") reach occupancy and said the commission should take initiative to review and update zoning and use rules to encourage more tenants and economic activity.
