Board honors Supervisor Academy graduates; receives Fire Chiefs annual report

Supervisors presented certificates to county employees who completed the third cohort of the Supervisor Academy and recognized a pilot leadership program, Humboldt Edge, for emerging leaders. Human Resources and partner Nancy Olson of the Redwood Chamber Foundation described the program as enhancing cross‑department communication and building capacity for county operations.
Following the recognition, the Measure Z‑funded Humboldt County Fire Chiefs Association presented its 2024 annual report. Team leaders reported that county fire agencies logged approximately 18,466 calls for service in 2024 and tracked more than 100,000 volunteer hours (valued at roughly $4.2 million). The Chiefs emphasized that consistent data collection helps with planning, capital needs, training, and grant applications and requested continued support for regional coordination and training resources.
The board thanked program staff, award recipients and volunteer chiefs. The board received and filed the Fire Chiefs report and accepted the Supervisor Academy report.
