At its annual reorganization meeting the Millbrae Elementary School District Board of Trustees elected Karen Chin as president for the 2026 school year, unanimously approving the nomination after a motion and second.
Board members individually thanked outgoing president Maggie Musa for her leadership. Multiple trustees praised Musa’s community engagement and service; one trustee said Musa had been “a shining example” of putting “kids first” and urged continued focus on students.
Karen Chin was sworn in by the board with family members present. The board nominated and approved Frank Barbaro as vice president and Claire Beltrami as clerk. Barbaro repeated the oath of office before the board; trustees recorded procedural confirmation that the clerk vote registered 5–0.
The board then approved committee appointments for the coming year and discussed practical details such as switching seat nameplates and future agenda planning. Members closed the reorganization portion of the meeting and moved on to regular agenda business.
