Assistant Superintendent Bookout: Milan district will develop AI policies after three-month teacher-led program

She said participants presented action research projects, shared learnings and produced common themes the district plans to use as it develops policy.
Bookout said the work is not finished: "Next steps, even though that part of our program is concluded, we're gonna continue to meet and develop some district policies and procedures around AI for our students and families and for our staff and also develop some professional development calendars." The district intends to share additional details as policies and professional development timelines are finalized.
The assistant superintendent did not provide firm deadlines or a fiscal estimate for implementation during the meeting. The update was presented as an informational item; no formal board action was recorded on AI policy at this session.
