Milltown panel approves curriculum first reading, adopts energy benchmarking and clears surplus equipment

The Milltown School Committee voted on multiple administrative items during its Dec. 18 meeting, approving a first reading of policy 6100 (curriculum management system), adopting policy 9240 (energy benchmarking and performance tracking) on final reading, and declaring certain facilities equipment surplus.

The committee voted to approve the first reading of policy 6100 after Assistant Superintendent Fonseca and other staff described the district’s adoption of an Edmentum curriculum-management program, new curriculum coordinators and the district’s work to identify power standards and assessments. The motion to consider and approve the first reading was seconded and the chair declared the motion passed.

The committee then considered the second and final reading of policy 9240, which staff said was required for energy-efficiency points associated with a building project. After brief discussion that the policy had been updated to reflect required tools and reporting, the committee adopted the policy on final reading.

Members also approved declaring obsolete facilities equipment surplus, including technology rolling off lifecycle support and large shop equipment described by staff as having scrap value. Staff said devices sent to the vendor would come with certificates of destruction for hard drives to mitigate cybersecurity concerns.
