Desiree Weems presented Virtual NP Medicine, a telemedicine practice that currently provides acute and chronic care and prescribes weight‑loss medications (GLP class) and other therapies. Weems said appointment pricing begins at about $50 for acute/chronic visits and cited compound pharmacy relationships that lower GLP pricing to roughly $400–$470 for a three‑month supply, including ancillary additives (glycine, vitamin B12) and a markup that covers consultation.
Judges probed the competitive landscape, scalability (how many patients can be seen per day), clinical continuity and security. One judge asked whether compounded GLP products are FDA‑approved; the judge stated they were not and asked for clarification. Weems responded that the products she sources through compounding pharmacies are the same medications patients receive from retail pharmacies and emphasized clinician licensure, an electronic health record portal to secure communications, patient consents and referrals for care beyond her scope.
On operations, Weems said she currently sees three to four patients per day in addition to in‑clinic work, estimates a potential future throughput of 12–15 patient visits per day as she hires additional practitioners, and plans to add an additional nurse practitioner and an LPN as the practice scales. She described using an EHR portal for secure messages, consent forms and electronic invoicing to avoid direct handling of payment card data.
The judges thanked Weems for the presentation and advised the founder to clarify regulatory and sourcing details for compounded medications in any public materials.
