Council accepts TSW Design executive summary for Ranch & Wilderness Area (Resolution 889); front 25 acres to open Jan. 1

Jenks City Council voted to adopt Resolution 889, recognizing and accepting the executive summary produced by TSW Design after a public engagement series on the Ranch & Wilderness Area.

Planning staff (Missus Hilton) told council the engagement process drew roughly 350 participants and produced an executive summary that staff presented in packet materials. Hilton said the front 25 acres of the park are being prepared to open Jan. 1 with signage and posted hours and that staff will return in January with three naming options taken from a list of names submitted during engagement.

Councilmembers praised the public outreach and staff’s compilation of findings. Councilmember Murray thanked staff for transparency and the public process; the mayor and others noted the quality of the data and that staff will solicit public feedback after one year of public use before proposing more permanent improvements. “We had about 350 citizens come. That’s really considered a lot of citizen input,” Hilton said.

Council voted unanimously to accept the executive summary and adopt the resolution. The resolution directs staff to post signage, open the front area, and return with a more detailed plan or survey results after the initial public-use period.

What happens next: Staff will post park signage and hours, present three naming options in January for public review, and gather feedback following one year of open use to recommend any additional improvements or changes.
