Commissioners approve consent items, review 2026 calendar and boards appointments, then move into executive sessions

At the outset of the Dec. 9 meeting, an unnamed commissioner moved to approve items 3 and 4 on the consent agenda "including all sub items," and the board approved the motion unanimously by voice vote.

After adjourning the 2:00 p.m. legislative session and reconvening the 9:00 a.m. briefing, commissioners turned to the 2026 meeting schedule and boards-and-commissions follow-up. Commissioners discussed shifting the spring-break week to April 6–10, moving some meetings to the week of March 30, and adjusting the strategic-planning meeting to avoid conflicts with local school calendars. Commissioners and staff debated whether to keep a January meeting (the week of Jan. 6) to avoid three consecutive weeks without meetings; staff asked for clarity on whether the slot should remain on the calendar or be canceled so agenda preparation could proceed.

Commissioners also reviewed assignments and alternates for regional boards and planning-disposition authorities (PDAs), noting that a member (Keeney) had termed out of one regional body; commissioners discussed splitting PDA assignments to avoid multiple appointments for one commissioner.

Before adjourning the public meeting, county counsel announced three executive sessions: two 20-minute sessions on pending and potential litigation (no action expected) and one 5-minute session concerning the performance of a public employee. The public portion of the meeting concluded and the board entered executive session.
