The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education approved multiple procurement actions Dec. 17 that advance facility renovations, construction management, and district device refreshes.
Significant approvals included:
- A construction-management-at-risk award to Reeves Young LLC for Gamble Road projects with an initial stated cost limitation not to exceed $20,000,000 (funded from East Bloss 5 funds).
- Furniture, fixture and equipment purchases for JG Smith Elementary, estimated at $818,118.34, charged to renovation account 445006.
- Renewal of the East Bloss geotechnical engineering, special inspection and materials testing annual contract (RFQC 24-09) with estimated annual expenditure $2,500,000.
- Renewal of RFQ25-03 on-call civil/structural/MEP/environmental and surveying services for an estimated $5,000,000 for 12/18/2025–12/17/2026.
- Renewal of RFQ25-04 on-call design professional services with an estimated annual expenditure of $30,000,000.
- A staff-laptop refresh purchase of 1,400 HP laptops from Ari Jones for $1,077,454; the board combined this motion with a student iPad refresh and approved both purchases.
Board members asked for more consistent summary material on procurement evaluations; the procurement/legal staff said evaluation details are sometimes confidential until award and suggested executive-session review or post-award public summaries. Items were moved, seconded and approved (voice votes).
