The Muskego City Finance Committee on Dec. 16 voted to recommend renewing a contract with Cunningham and Butler to provide employee benefits‑consulting services.
Staff member Kate explained the firm has worked with the city since 2022 and helps manage the city’s health, vision and dental programs, including benchmarking, negotiating renewals and supporting open enrollment. "They work with us on our managing our $2,500,000 or so health budget for our employees," she said, and staff noted the proposed contract contains a 3% increase from last year.
Kate told the committee the firm also assists on escalated employee medical‑claim issues and that both the city attorney and staff have reviewed the contract and are "comfortable with the terms." Committee members cited past instances in which consultants helped lower premiums and voiced support for continuity of service.
The committee voted to recommend the renewal to the common council; the recommendation passed unanimously at committee level.
