Lockport — The Lockport City Council cleared a broad consent agenda and approved a set of routine and development‑related items, including a special use permit for a proposed gas station and an intergovernmental agreement for intersection improvements.
At the start of the meeting the council approved minutes, payroll and bills and passed a package of resolutions and an ordinance amending Chapter 156 of the municipal code. A roll call vote carried the consent agenda with Alderman Cardamone recorded as absent.
Council approved Ordinance 25 0 2 2 authorizing a special use permit for a gas station at 10051 South Archer / 100 51st Street and separately approved Resolution 25 1 0 2 for final development plans. The council also approved a motor‑fuel tax revenue sharing agreement (Resolution 25 1 1 0) between Lucky Site Inc. and the American Legion to fund off‑site improvements, with staff noting the start date was moved to March 2027 and payments will be made after funds are received (a typical 90–100 day delay).
Separately, council approved Resolution 25 1 0 8, an intergovernmental agreement with Will County for intersection improvements at Briggs and Oak, after staff corrected a memo typo that had referenced the wrong intersection.
City staff also presented budget amendments within the TIF fund to cover additional work on underground storage tank removal, and the purchase of the Delwood Tire property at 701–711 South State Street using reserves; council directed accounting adjustments and placement of the budget item as an action item for approval.
The council accepted an amendment extending an existing MOU with the Illinois State Museum and Main Street for the Lockport museum at 201 West 10th Street and budgeted $6,000 annually for operations as requested in the packet. The mayor said he intends to place the appointment of Robin Lipp to fill a council vacancy on the next meeting’s consent agenda.
