The Manassas Park governing body on Dec. 16 adopted resolutions honoring two long-serving finance officials who are retiring after multi-decade careers.
A resolution recognized Debbie Wood for 34 years of service, citing her work as Commissioner of Revenue and contributions that improved tax collections and supported software enhancements that helped the city pass an audit. The governing body read findings that Wood’s work helped reduce delinquent taxes and improve the city’s financial position.
The council also honored Patricia (Patty) Dellinger for 32 years as the city’s elected treasurer, noting her role in collecting millions in delinquent tax revenue, improving collection rates to about 98% and securing short-term cash loans during a period of financial insolvency in 2017–2018. A public commenter earlier in the meeting, Laszlo Palco, urged residents to thank both officials for “helping turn around the city.”
Both resolutions passed by voice vote; each honoree briefly received remarks and thanks from the governing body. The actions are ceremonial recognitions and do not create new policy or financial obligations.
