Burgess said the funds would not fully underwrite grooming but would help expand grooming capacity on newly completed trail segments.
Burgess presented the group's grooming plan and said the alliance will continue to pursue matching funds and other sources; he estimated the organization has provided roughly $355,000 in in‑kind contributions to county projects so far. Trustees and staff discussed where a $5,000 request would fit in the parks budget process and asked for a brief justification the board could include in its proposed budget packet to the county commissioners.
Trustees suggested potential split funding that could include grooming and a separate maintenance account for trail repairs or signage. Staff said they will add the alliance's request to the parks proposed budget and may ask for additional supportive detail from the alliance before presenting the budget to the county commissioners.
Burgess also described a proposed trail safety project (in collaboration with Crimson Dawn Association) to regrade a hazardous approach to a cemetery trail; that would come as a separate budget item with matching funds.
