Monongalia County commissioners on Dec. 17 authorized the county president to accept and administer a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grama award of $122,587 and approved several reimbursement requests.
Colleen Coogan Grant presented the VOCA contract packet and read a resolution authorizing "Jeffrey L. Arnett, president of the Monongalia County Commission" to sign the contract and related federal assurances and certifications. The commission moved, seconded and approved the president’s authorization by voice vote.
Staff also presented requests for reimbursements: a community corrections grant ($20,145.87), multiple Governor's Highway Safety Program reimbursements for safe‑communities and impaired driving (amounts of $220.04, $785.55 and $1,592.74 for different periods), and a VOCA reimbursement for $8,181.17. Commissioners moved and approved requests for the president to sign the reimbursements.
The VOCA award and the reimbursements require federal standard assurances, disclosure of lobbying activities and compliance with equal employment opportunity requirements; Colleen Coogan Grant noted those items are included in the contract packet. The commission recorded the approvals by voice vote; no roll‑call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript.
