The Salinas City Council held a public hearing on Dec. 9 to consider a staff recommendation and the Salinas United Business Association’s request to disestablish the SUBA business improvement area (BIA). Staff described the noticing conducted in both English and Spanish and said a copy of the resolution of intention and cover letter were mailed to area members and published in the Monterey County Weekly.

No members of the public testified at the hearing, and council members moved and seconded a resolution to disestablish the BIA and direct staff to prepare an ordinance repealing the related municipal-code chapter. Council member Barra recused from the vote; the motion passed.
