Community Development Assistant Director Orlando Reyes presented the city’s first near real‑time housing dashboard on Dec. 9. The tool integrates ArcGIS Enterprise, Microsoft Power BI and the TrackIt permit system to display entitled, permitted and completed units against Salinas’ RHNA requirement of 6,674 units for the 2023–2031 cycle.
Staff said the dashboard refreshes three times daily, will be shared with Housing & Land Use Committee members for testing, and could later be expanded to display metrics such as application turnaround times. Council asked that staff solicit community input on dashboard features before the public release; staff said they would release the prototype with channels for feedback and return to council with quarterly reports beginning March 2026.
No action was required; council members and public commenters asked for clarity on how the tool will allow residents and developers to access information and whether it can show affordability and waiting-list details.
