Assistant Chief Luis Bravo, speaking for Chief Acosta, used the committee meeting on Dec. 15 to recap the department—s recent holiday outreach and a new staff-wellness initiative.
Bravo said the department participated in a La Posada celebration at Acosta Plaza and ran multiple free "photos with Santa" sessions at Frank Paul Elementary, Northridge Mall and Santa Rita Elementary School, intended to provide holiday support to local children. He also thanked volunteers and partner organizations and acknowledged Toys for Tots— contributions to several community events.
On staff wellbeing, Bravo introduced Sage, a 1-year-old golden lab designated as a wellness dog to be handled by investigations staff member Vanessa. "If we're having a bad day, Sage comes around, wants to be pet, hug," Bravo said, noting the dog was still in training but expected to be a positive addition to organizational wellness.
Committee members praised the outreach events and encouraged broader education and engagement efforts tied to community programs; there was no formal action associated with the chief—s report.
