Davenport — The Davenport Public Library Board of Trustees on Dec. 16 approved several governance and personnel actions, including revisions to the programming policy, a pending naming for Meeting Room C, and a 3.25% general wage increase for the library director.
The board first approved the consent agenda and then adopted the revised programming policy that the trustees had discussed at a prior meeting. After discussion the motion to adopt the programming policy passed on a roll call vote; trustees present registered affirmative votes.
Later in new business, Director Jeff Collins presented the library's gift-acceptance framework and recommended naming Meeting Room C at the Main Library for the Davenport Public Library Foundation in recognition of substantial past support. "They've given literally millions of dollars, to the library in support over the years," Collins said. Trustees discussed timing because the 'foundation' designation is recently being established as a doing-business-as name for the Friends group. Board members amended the motion to make the naming contingent on formalization of the foundation name and then voted to approve the pending naming.
The board also approved a 3.25% general wage increase for the library director, effective the first pay period of January 2026, saying the raise is intended to keep the director's compensation in line with other department directors. The motion was made, discussed briefly, and approved by roll call vote.
All formal votes recorded during the meeting were taken by roll call and carried by affirmative votes from trustees present. Trustees concluded the meeting with president comments and adjourned.
