The Murrieta City Council opened its Nov. 4 meeting with three community presentations and a proclamation.
A representative from the Murrieta Valley Unified School District described a penny drive among 11 elementary schools that raised $1,068.47 to benefit the Murrieta Public Library Foundation’s children’s library expansion; the presenter emphasized the educational engagement of students in the fundraiser.
Adam Eventoff of Southern California Gas Co. presented two restaurant awards through the company’s Restaurant Resilience Program, naming Jade China and Guay Thai as recipients. Eventoff said the program, created after the COVID-19 pandemic, partners with the California Restaurant Foundation and regional gas providers and distributed $5,000 awards to each restaurant; he thanked the local chambers and staff who helped publicize the grant opportunity.
Mayor Warren read and presented a proclamation declaring Nov. 29, 2025, Small Business Saturday in the City of Murrieta and introduced Patrick Ellis from the chamber, who commended council support and outlined an upcoming 'shop small' campaign. "Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy," Ellis said, noting the role of small-business employers in the region.
Council took no formal votes on these presentations; members joined presenters for photographs and thanked participants.
