Council approves Amendment No. 3 to city manager's employment agreement

The Half Moon Bay City Council on Dec. 16 approved Amendment No. 3 to the city manager's employment agreement. Interim City Attorney Denise Bozzano presented the changes, which remove the contract's prior expiration date, provide the council with an additional separation option (six months' written notice with no severance obligation), and delete a subsection regarding the city manager's return to an assistant city manager role.
Bozzano told the council the amendment does not alter salary or benefits, so no oral compensation report was required under Government Code section 54953(c)(3). She also noted a redline copy of the proposed amendment was included in the meeting materials and that the city manager had agreed to the terms following the council's closed-session direction on Dec. 6.
The council approved the amendment by unanimous roll-call vote. The amendment expands the council's administrative options for future separations while keeping existing compensation and benefits unchanged.
Implementation notes: The city clerk will record the amendment in the official contract file; no additional financial action was required at time of adoption.
