Frank Phillips of the county elections office briefed the court on precinct boundary adjustments required by the state congressional redistricting maps. He walked commissioners through provided maps and described how several voter precincts will shift or be created to align local precinct boundaries with new congressional districts.
Examples noted on the record included the creation of new precinct numbers (12-34, 12-27, and 12-36 in the briefing) and the existence of a very small unincorporated precinct (1238) that currently contains no registered voters. Phillips said some precinct boundaries were drawn to follow incorporated city lines and that the state map largely dictated the county adjustments.
Commissioners moved to approve the precinct changes; the motion passed unanimously. The elections office also provided printers and GIS maps in backup and said precinct chairs had previously been notified so party filings for precinct chair positions could proceed.
The court scheduled related public hearings for plats and other land-use items on Jan. 13, 2026, and confirmed the elections office will publish updated precinct maps.
